Meopham LTC is a friendly, informal village club situated behind Meopham village hall on the A227.
It has 5 all weather courts and a small club house where members can relax with a cup of tea or coffee between games.
It has a membership of approximately 100 adults and a very strong junior membership of over 80. The club fields teams in both the Kent and North Kent leagues, where for such a small club it could be said to “punch above it’s weight”.
Coaching sessions in conjunction with Matchpoint Tennis are held every Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and Saturday mornings for the juniors. Club sessions for the adult members are held on Monday, Thursday and Sunday mornings all year round, non members may attend on a Thursday morning for a small fee. In addition, summer sessions are held on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
As well as tennis, during the year there are a number of social activities such as quiz nights, comedy nights, snooker tournaments and a Christmas party usually with some kind of entertainer. Also we hold informal “American” style charity fund raising tournaments, and in late summer, the final of the annual club tournament complete with drinks and a barbecue.
In July, on the middle Sunday of Wimbledon fortnight we usually hold an open day, when visitors can come along to try their hand to see if they would like to join the club.
In August, Matchpoint Tennis organise the “Meopham Open”, attracting competitors from other clubs as well as individuals and sometimes overseas visitors, there are classes for adults and juniors. All are welcome.
